Mental Health Clinician

Job Overview

Licensed Mental Health Clinician needed for a correctional healthcare setting at NYC Health + Hospitals (Rikers Island). You will provide mental health assessments, diagnosis, and individualized treatment for adults with behavioral health conditions, substance use histories, and severe mental illness. Evening shift, 5 days/week, 40 hours/week. Must be a local NYC candidate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for behavioral health and substance use disorders
• Provide therapeutic interventions and counseling for adults with severe mental illness
• Document assessments, treatment plans, and patient progress per clinical and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
• Maintain compliance with correctional facility protocols and healthcare regulations

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be local to NYC — able to travel to Rikers Island facility
• Must complete PREA and NYC Department of Correction (DOC) onboarding upon hire
• Experience diagnosing and treating patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders
• Active New York State license: LCSW, LMHC, or LP
• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
• Inpatient or correctional behavioral health experience preferred
• Experience conducting both clinical assessment and treatment with adult populations preferred

Education

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.
